Amanda Westmoreland took the Oath of Office today as Chief of Police for the Leesville Police Department during the City Council Meeting at Leesville City Hall. Westmoreland was officially selected by the Leesville City Council in late December to lead the department, succeeding outgoing Chief Beth Westlake, who retired after 30 years of dedicated public service. Before coming to Leesville, Westmoreland served for many years with the DeRidder Police Department, where she earned recognition for her professionalism, community engagement, and her impactful work as a School Resource Officer. The DeRidder Police Department praised her leadership and commitment there, noting her strong relationships with students and staff and her unwavering dedication to public safety. During today’s meeting, the mayor and City Council members welcomed Chief Westmoreland and expressed their confidence that she will continue the strong, highly satisfactory work established under Chief Westlake’s leadership. Today’s ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Leesville Police Department as Chief Westmoreland steps into her role with a proven record of integrity, service, and community-focused policing.
