The City of Leesville plays a vital role in maintaining Fort Johnson through its Inter-Governmental Service Agreement (IGSA) for vegetation control, ensuring the military installation remains well-kept and fully operational by taking the lead in mowing, landscaping, and maintaining training areas at Fort Johnson.
A Pioneering Partnership
In 2018, Leesville secured its first IGSA, becoming one of the first cities to implement this agreement. This partnership was made possible by Mayor Rick Allen, Council Member Chop Thomas and City Administrator Patti Larney, who worked day and night to meet critical deadlines and finalize the original agreement. Their dedication and vision helped secure a collaboration that continues to benefit the city, its residents, and the military community.
Economic and Job Growth
Beyond enhancing Fort Johnson’s appearance and functionality, this initiative creates local jobs, generates revenue for the city, and strengthens ties between the military and community.
To meet staffing needs, Leesville has partnered with Manpower, a workforce solutions provider. Manpower is currently hiring for vegetation control positions as they ramp up for the growing season, making it a great time for interested applicants to apply.
