Mayor Allen administers Oath of Office

Eric Baker, Mayor Allen, Dan Duhon

Mayor Rick Allen recently administered the Oath of Office to Dan Duhon and Eric Baker. Both are long-time members of the Leesville Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board and both will begin a new four-year term this month.

The Civil Service Board oversees personnel standards for the city’s civil service employees, including all police and fire department personnel. In this capacity, they serve as advisors not only to the city government and department chiefs who create and edit employee guidelines, but also to individual employees who feel they’ve been treated unfairly.

When necessary, the board may instigate an investigation into complaints made by or against any officer or employee. Based on those results, they may recommend demotion, suspension or dismissal of said employees in accordance with their current guidelines.

Other members of Leesville’s Civil Service Board include Jeremy Smart representing the Governing Authority, plus Galen Johnson and Tyson Ingram, each serving as a Higher Learning Representative.
